2 Broke Girls is a comedy about the unlikely friendship that develops between two very different young women waitressing at a diner in trendy Williamsburg, Brooklyn, who form a bond over their dream of one day owning a successful cupcake business. Only one thing stands in their way — they’re broke.

Sarcastic, streetwise Max Black (Kat Dennings) meets the sophisticated, school-smart Caroline Channing (Beth Behrs) when the former trust fund princess loses all her money due to her father’s Wall Street scandal, and reluctantly has to give waitressing a shot. At first, Max sees Caroline as an entitled rich girl, but she’s surprised to find that Caroline has as much substance as she does style. When Caroline discovers Max’s knack for baking amazing cupcakes, she sees a lucrative future for them and they begin to save money to reach their start-up goal of $250,000. As the girls’ tally expands week to week, they become closer to their goal … and closer as friends.

At the diner, they are surrounded by their offbeat, colorful “family”: Oleg (Jonathan Kite), an overly flirtatious cook; Earl (Garrett Morris), a hip 75-year-old cashier and all-around cool cat; Han (Matthew Moy), the eager-to-please new owner of the diner; and Sophie (Jennifer Coolidge), the girls’ outrageous upstairs neighbour who comes by the diner as often as she does Max and Caroline’s apartment for a cupcake fix. As Max and Caroline climb toward their goal, we see that their “smarts” plus their “hearts” might just be the recipe for success.

In the second season premiere, Max joins Caroline on her visit to a white-collar prison to see her father, Martin Channing (Steven Webber), and he encourages them to purchase a particular keepsake at the Channing estate auction.

In addition to winning viewers’ hearts, in its debut season, 2 Broke Girls was nominated for three Primetime Emmy® Awards, including Outstanding Art Direction for a Multi-Camera Series, Outstanding Cinematography for a Multi-Camera Series and Outstanding Multi-Camera Picture Editing for a Multi-Camera Series.

Tune into SABC3 for 2 Broke Girls every Monday at 21:30 and watch how Max and Caroline puts the “class” in working class.

Total Blackout is a half-hour extreme competition game show where one’s courage is put to the test.

Hosted by Jaleel White (Urkel from Family Matters), contestants battle each other and their fears in a series of challenges, taking place in complete darkness confronting their own worst enemy – themselves.

However, there is a twist – all the challenges are played in complete darkness; no lights, no blindfolds and no-holds barred as the players face their fears and unexpected surprises in a series of nerve-wracking games.

The contestants will see nothing but the audience will see everything.  Here’s where the imagination can be one’s nastiest enemy. Through Jaleel’s guidance, contestants will have to heighten their other senses of hearing, smell and touch as they try to identify objects, which may include creepy crawlers of every kind, traverse through obstacles real or imagined, and beat their opponents’ performances in order not to be dropped through the stage and be eliminated from the game.

After three rounds, the contestant who can overcome their own fears and out perform their opponents, will stand victorious and win five thousand dollars.
Total Blackout is produced by FremantleMedia North America for Sci-Fi (USA).

If you are ready to be freaked out, stay tuned every Friday at 19:30 for Total Blackout. Find it on SABC3.
