Nicki Minaj’s meet and greet was a ‘lie’

Entertainment March 18, 2016

When an International superstar comes down to South Africa, die-hard fans rush for ‘meet and greet’ tickets. The ‘Barbz’ moment for the poor fans ended in a broken heart when Nicki said she won’t be doing any meet and greet. Nicki was faced with 20 die-hard fans that were supposedly lied to about the R3000($196) tickets for the meet and greet backstage.

Nicks‘ spoke to the group, who was visibly upset according to the source, 10:30pm at the TicketPro Dome, north of Johannesburg, she said “I’m very sorry for keeping you all waiting‚ but I want you to know that I never approved any meet and greet. I don’t do meet and greets after a show‚ I was literally about to leave. These people lied to you‚ please get your money back‚”

She promised, they will get their money back, the emphasis is on “I’ll make sure“, however, she then agreed to take group pictures with the fans.

Nicki is expected to perform again at the TicketPro Dome, on Friday, then head to Durban for a Sunday show and Cape Town on Tuesday.

Having waited that long, they seemed to have been happy to have a moment with Anaconda star. Technically they have met and greeted the singer in a way that very twisted most unfortunate – and well, they’ll still get their R3000 back.

EFF wants Nicki Minaj to pay back R10 Million ($642K)

Entertainment March 17, 2016

EFF (Economic Freedom Fighters) lead by Julius Malema, wants Nicki Minaj to payback the R10m that she was paid to perform at a cancelled festival (due to poor infrastured – claimed organizers) at Dinokeng festival which was scheduled for Cullinan in Pretoria, local artists and US artist (Nicki) were all billed.

There were rumors that the deposit made to Nicki’s account was a non-refundable fee. Nicki is schuduled to perform today,  however, EFF is adamant that she repays the billed amount (in 2014). EFF has demanded the city to have a meeting with top star’s management.

In a statement, they said – “We hope that their meeting will be short as their agenda will be the R10-million owed to taxpayers. Failure to do that will result in the EFF wards making sure the matter does not die a natural death,

the R10-million could have been used to make a huge difference in the lives of communities in Dinokeng who lack basic services such as water, sanitation, proper houses, electricity and roads.

We want to make it clear to Nicki Minaj’s fans, including fighters, that we do not have any problems with Nicki Minaj’s music and have no intention of boycotting her concert. We wish her well. However, the principle here is accountability.”

It has been said that there is a case which is still pending, and event organizers are to be blamed. However the municipality responded to EFF’s statement:

“The municipality is not planning to meet any of the artists who were involved in the Dinokeng festival. It must be understood that the municipality has taken action against the organisers of the event who are the company that the city contracted with. All recourses are against them,”
