Entertainment March 2, 2016

Monde Twala has been a Managing Director (MD) for etv, for 16 years. it has recently been announced that Monde will be leaving Etv to join a multinational company.

It known that he started at etv as a Sports Producer in 1999, fast forward to 2009 – He became a group head and luckily in 2014 became the MD (Managing Director of Etv)

Monde Twala on his statement (According to reports) said.

“I’ve spent 16 extremely happy and fulfilling years at e.tv. I have experienced many highlights of my career here and close collaboration with many talented colleagues, production partners and stakeholders in and around the business,”

DESTINY MAN, had an opportunity to interview the Monde, and spoke about the future of SA television. and said he would have said the whole idea of convergence is the next big thing, but it’s already here. The idea of more channels available everywhere is the game-changer.

…and added and said their challenge, as businesses, is making sure that we adapt and that they’re able to deliver on multi-platforms – streaming content through the traditional antenna and online applications. Internet-connected TVs are slowly gaining traction and they need to stake their claim too.

Look at services such as Vidi and Altec Node – they’re making inroads in the sector. Pay TV is also moving towards Internet-based TV, but this space is still marred by slow local broadband speeds.

Not everyone is happy with Monde Twala exit. A few praises has been said – and Twala is expected to leave in April 2016.

Etv’s Group COO (Chief  Operating Officer), Mark Rosin had this to Say (according to DESTINY)

“Monde is passionate about broadcasting, transformation and contributing to the local broadcasting industry. He is a people-focused leader and has mentored many e.tv employees, who have gone on to excel within eMedia Investments and in the broader media industry. Monde’s legacy at the company has laid a strong and stable base for new leadership. We are proud of what we have done for Monde and he is proud of what he has done for us,”

and 8C bid you farewell, we hope to hear more of the changing will bring into our small screens.
