About ‘Skeem Saam’

Skeem Saam is a drama series (Soapie) Createdby by Winnie Serite, it shows on SABC1 in South Africa. It stars Thabo Mamabolo, Clement Maosa and Patrick Seleka.

 

 

The series debuted on SABC1 on Thursday 13 October 2011, at 20h30. The initial two seasons of the show played out as a week by week dramatization, yet the show was stretched out into an every day dramatization from Season 3. Season 3 debuted on Monday 14 July 2014 and publicized at 18h30 day by day. On Wednesday, 1 October it changed time to 20h00, supplanting Generations which went off-air as an aftereffect of a question between the creation and the performers. Skeem Saam will air at 20h00 until December 2014 when it will come back to its 18h30 timeslot.

Patrick Seleka is a South African actor best known for his starring role as Katlego ‘Kat’ Petersen in the SABC1 drama series Skeem Saam.

Patrick loves writing poems and entertaining people. He is from a small township called Seshego in Limpopo.

When Patrick was young he wanted to be a policeman like his father. After finishing school he studied IT then enrolled with the School of Arts in Pretoria.

Highlights of his life include “the time I started art in junior school, my teacher encouraged me to enter competitions and I can’t remember losing. During high school I took an interest in theatre and met a group called C.S.P. I then began to build my career; I’ve performed at the State and Market Theatre.”

Cornet Mamabolo is a South African actor best known for his starring role as Thabo ‘Tbose’ Maputla in the SABC1 drama series Skeem Saam.

Cornet was born in Limpopo and attended Eqinisweni Secondary School where he was consistently involved in school activities.

He remembers wanting to be a performer or biotechnologist when he was little, he says “but my mom says I wanted to be a doctor.” He studied for a Bachelor of Arts, Dramatic Arts at the University of Witwatersrand.

He began performing arts in 2005 during high school, starting with community theatre in Ivory Park, Tembisa and then moved onto mainstream theatre two years later.

Clement Maosa

Clement Maosa is a South African actor best known for his starring role as Zamokuhle ‘Kwaito’ Seakamela in the SABC1 drama series Skeem Saam.

Clement is from Polokwane, Limpopo. He attended school in a village called Ga-Rammutla and after matric he studied law at the University of Limpopo.

When Clement was young he wanted to be a soldier and when he reached high school he decided he would be an actor. He grew up in Bochum with his parents, two sisters and a younger brother.

Clement’s career highlights include the month he served his articles as a candidate attorney, some road shows and promotions with a commercial radio station in Limpopo and when he was registered as a model with Rezo-Lution and Media Management.

His involvement with Skeem Saam was his big break. “I saw a notification on Facebook from Mzansi fo sho about the auditions. I travelled from Limpopo to audition and fortunately I got the role.

“Kwaito is a smart teenager who is passionate about poetry, he likes reading and writing. He was not born with a golden spoon in his mouth and tries by all means to impress his mother because she loves him so much.

“Kwaito is bitter about not having a father by his side like his friend Tbose.”

Harriet Manamela

Harriet Manamela (sometimes credited as Harriet Lenabe) is a South African actress who has had roles in the films Hijack Stories (2000), Country Of My Skull (2004), Yesterday (2004) and Hotel Rwanda (2004).

She also appeared in the 2006 mini-series When We Were Black.

Born in 1971 in Diepkloof, Manamela matriculated from St. Anthony’s Centre in Boksburg. She joined Squints Artists Community Theatre Group in Alexandra and performed in The Virus and Let’s Talk About Aids at The Market Theatre Laboratory Annual Festival.

With The Market Theatre Laboratory drama school she performed in Broken Dreams, appeared in Theatre Sports for SABC3, toured Sweden with Gommorah, Koze Kuse Bash, Ways of Dying, Bozoli at The Market Theatre and The Grahamstown Arts Festival.

Africa Tsoai is a South African actor best known for his role as Mr. Maputla in the SABC1 drama series Skeem Saam.

Africa was born in Hebron-Graskop in Mpumalanga, a place just below God’s Window. He grew up with his granny, uncles, cousins and extended families as parents.

After matriculating, Africa studied graphic design at Rudolph College in Johannesburg. He was a self-taught fine arts enthusiast, and got his diploma in 1989 and did a sound engineering course at Inhouse Records in Randburg in 2000.

Highlights of Africa’s career include starting his small business in 1996, his showbiz highlights include ramp work as a model, photographic stills and extensive extra work in international movies and SABC dramas.

Eric Macheru is a South African actor most famous for acting as Leeto Maputla the son of Meikie Maputla and John Maputla and the older brother of Thabo Maputla in the soap, Skeem Saam, He was born in Botlokwa, Polokwane and attended Kuschke agricultural high school. At school he was very loud and was involved in all school activities including soccer and debates.

Eric has always known what he wants in life – when he was little he knew he would be a professional soccer player and a filmmaker. He grew up with his church going family; a father who loves sport, two brothers and his mother.

When Eric finished school he played soccer and then studied film at AFDA. Highlights in his career include playing soccer for Ajax CT, Platinum Stars and Tottenham Hotspur in a friendly.

Dieketseng Mnisi is a South African actress best known for her supporting role as the pastor’s wife Masechaba Moletsane on the SABC2 sitcom Stokvel, from 2007-2012. She replaced the late Limakatso Manotwane in the role from the 5th season.

She is also known for her role as Ma Ntuli in the SABC1 drama series Skeem Saam and has had guest starring roles in numerous other series including Yizo Yizo, Zone 14 and Intersexions.

In 2013 she had a guest starring role as Nokufa, a devil worshipper who sacrifices her own daughter to gain more dark power, in the episode of the e.tv anthology series eKasi: Our Stories entitled “Deep Secret” (Season 5, Episode 12)
